The Minister for tourism Nikolina Angelkova launched a new plan to make Bulgaria the tourist hotspot of 2015

Speaking last Tuesday at a national press conference for the Tourism Board 2015, the minister mentioned the winter tourism and the ski resorts such as Bansko and Pamporovo attracted wealthy high end tourists, while the black sea coast resorts such attracted the more working class type of tourist aged 20 – 45 or 60+

She emphasized that this reform will begin from January 2015, while the plans for 2016 will take place in June.

Bulgaria wants to attract tourists from other countries not just the UK, Russia & Ukraine and were hoping to help tour companies lay on chartered planes from different locations across the EU.
They want to promote other part of Bulgaria to explore such as the Trail of the Roman Emperors, The Valley of Roses Route, The Trail of Thracian Kings etc., that would attract the more high end cultured tourist.

Angelkova made it very clear the budget to attract more Tourists in 2015 was 5.5 million.

It was made very clear that the National Tourism Board discussed the following target markets which include all Bulgaria’s closest neighbours such as Russia, Germany, Scandinavia, France, Ukraine, Spain, Poland, UK, Ireland, but also new for 2015 to target the far off tourists from China, Indonesia, India & Japan.

Bulgaria will be split into 9 tourist regions in the advertising to attract more tourists to each region including Danube, Sofia, Stara Planina, Rila-Pirin, Valley of Roses, Rhodope Mountains, Thrace, Northern Black Sea Coast, and Southern Black Sea Coast. Rather than simply advertising the Ski resorts in winter and the beach resorts in Summer.

Each of these regions will be given to different organizations to promote and push which will be announced soon.

The aim behind the different regions is to generate marketing for all areas of Bulgaria to attract high end tourists to each region of the country.

And she also mentioned the board are working towards making the tourism regions beneficiaries under the new EU operational programs.

Bulgaria is becoming an investment hot spot there never has been a better time to holiday in Bulgaria or buy and sell property in Bulgaria.
